September 3 – Nakazawa invited seven wrestlers over to his house for dinner. Apparently he had quite a bit of meat to cook and Kenny hurried along the cooking process by giving the frying meat a decent Hadouken:

The dinner party was just prior to Kenny’s scheduled flight back to Canada. According to Nakazawa, Kenny was quite sad to leave: “It’s weird, and I’m a little sad every time people say, ‘Kenny, it’s probably the last time I’ll see you before you go home…’, especially yesterday. I almost cried. I rarely do that. When I finished playing the game at the arcade and Ibushi said goodbye to me, I couldn’t help but cry. I went home in a hurry with this attitude.” [translated from Japanese]

Kenny left Japan September 4, 2008. Here are a few photos of him saying goodbye to various people shortly before he left. Apparently Kenny had injured his knee at one of his matches, and had spent some time walking around with a cane, but was starting to be on the mend just before leaving the country. His knee is braced in the above photo. Matsui had this to say regarding his impression of Kenny: “he lived in the dormitory all the time, he didn’t complain, and he was a really great foreigner who performed great in the ring (even on the street).

September 2-6 – Ibushi teamed up with Katsuhiko Nakajima in the NOAH Global Tag League, and was in some TV spot that featured the tag partners on a beach swimming and boating, and then eating together. [credit]

September 7 – Ibushi was involved in a crazy DDT campground match that had about a 100 spectators. These tend to go for an hour, with the wrestlers using various features of nature against each other in creative ways (weaponizing of trees, rocks, etc.), and Ibushi always manages to bring out the fireworks to shoot at people at some point during the show. The match is featured on ddtpro.com, but below are still shots of the event, courtesy of Extreme Party:

The following photos are from griffon591’s blog:

After the show, they barbequed meat, and Ibushi felt like smashing some of his food in coworker Ihashi’s face.

Once back in Canada, Kenny had a couple of matches for JAPW. He beat Jay Lethal at Basebrawl on September 19th, but lost to Rhino on the 20th at Beat the Odds. Here are a couple of photos from around that time, taken by the blog Manhattan Drop, who seemed to want to continue following his progress post-Japan. You can see his injured knee is still taped up.

Kenny was not the only Golden Lover who was injured: Ibushi tore his rotator cuff, I believe at a September 14th ROH event in Tokyo, and had to miss the rest of his previously scheduled September DDT shows.

September 27 – Kenny was defeated by El Generico at the Eve of Indypendence in West Midlands, England.
