Ibushi kicks off the month with a match against Choun Shiryu at a DDT tournament (I’m not getting a good translation on the show name). After a dramatic balcony dive onto his opponent, he gets the three count after just barely over 10 minutes of in-ring action.

Ibushi vs Shiya Cho Un – 11/3/2009

During the tournament, a future DDT show being held in Fukuoka is announced for December, and Ibushi declares to the fans that he will be there for it.

Continuing the streak of ROH shows that had begun in October, Omega spends the first couple weeks of November traveling to shows along the east coast, then up to Michigan and Canada.

During anROH World Title Four Way match, champ Austin Aries defeats Davey Richards, Kenny Omega and Roderick Strong.

Here are a few photos from that show, featuring a youthful looking Strong, and bloody faced Omega:

Back in April 2009, Omega had faced Chris Hero at an ROH show in Philadelphia, and was defeated by him in a singles match. Now he gets his chance face Hero again, once again in Philadelphia. This time he fares a lot better, getting a win over Hero, though injuring his face a bit in the process.

Kenny seems to be breaking his face a lot in these ROH matches

The same day Omega was busy facing Hero, Ibushi was having his own brand of interesting fun wrestling pal Nakazawa at one of DDT’s ‘bring wrestling to the masses’ type mall shows.

For his blog, Nakazawa snaps a few grainy photos of Ibushi socializing and eating with friends.

November 13 and 14th Omega is in Michigan for an ROH match against Katsuhiko Nakajima, then is the main event for ROH’s The Omega Effect show, challenging Austin Aries for his world title.

Omega takes a few hard bumps during this show, smashing into a table and taking an uncomfortable looking ground landing after a Tope Con Hilo.

He seems quite devastated losing to Aries, taking a sad minute against the ropes as the ref tries to console him.

That same day, Ibushi is booked in a Kaientai Dojo Korakuen tournament, a show called Club-K Super Joke 2009.

November 15th is God Bless DDT, a show that takes place every November. At the end of the show, Ibushi is challenged by Ishikawa, who states, “We did it! I don’t know how many Union fans are here today, but I made a promise at the last Union. I will win today, challenge Ibushi, and bring the belt back to the Union! I will keep my promise. Ibushi! Come on up to the ring! I’ll challenge that belt of yours and bring it back to Union for sure. I’ll win no matter how I have to do it. I’ll make sure you can’t get out of the ring one piece.” Ibushi is agreeable to this declaration and shakes Ishikawa’s hand.

Kenny participates in PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles (BOLA) November 20 and 21st. These annual shows are always fun. The first night of the event Kenny battles a (forever) pissed off Kevin Steen. Plenty of antics and drama ensue.

A fair amount of biting too.

The second night Omega faces Roderick Strong for the PWG World Heavyweight title that had been vacated by Bryan Danielson. This full match can be found on billibilli.

Kenny makes the decision to moonsault off the announce desk – very Ibushi-esque..

HE WINS!

exhausted by victorious Kenny

Omega is now the new PWG champ. But his victorious moment is squashed by some crazy Young Bucks that surprise attack him from behind! Aw, shit. They came into the ring – Nick even wearing an Omega shirt – seemingly to help him celebrate his victory, but they’re really in cahoots with Brian Kendrick, and viciously kick and stomp the new champ while Kendrick watches.

What!? Aren’t they friends!?

To the shock of Omega, El Generico, his “archist of arch rivals” (per commentator Excalibur), saves him from the Youngbucks’ beatdown! Colt Cabana gets involved and tries to smooth the awkwardness between the two men, as Kenny is suspicious of Generico’s motives for saving him. After initial hesitation, Omega declares a truce, and the crowd cheers as they shake hands.

The next day, November 22, there is a tournament in Sapporo. Ibushi is featured in the 7th match of the evening, a six-man tag match with KUDO and Yasu Urano as his partners.

Apparently after the show, Ref Matsui, Ibushi and Nakazawa go to a restaurant where Nakazawa really slams back the booze.

The next morning, Matsui wanted to get breakfast before heading back to Tokyo, but Kota sleeps in too late (hungover perhaps?) and they didn’t have enough time for it.

The pic is Ibushi trying to make his arm veins pop out. Cuz why not.

At the DDT Special, Ibushi is in the 8th match of the night (this match IS on DDT’s site wrestle-universe.com), with Shuji Ishikawa challenging him for his KO-D Openweight Championship. He looks pretty serious coming into this one, giving a couple huge sighs and throwing a few reserved glances at Ishikawa as he enters the ring.

Ibushi spends the first 10 minutes of the match getting completely worked over and dominated by his aggressive opponent. All that changes with a beautiful moonsault, and Ibushi is able to get the upper hand for a little while.

However, the advantage doesn’t last long, and Ishikawa puts him in a hold, rendering him unable to escape a series of headbutts.

Ibushi is still able to pull off some beautiful moves of his own throughout the match:

Oh, he’s so dead!

Unfortunately, Ibushi’s reign as the 29th Openweight champion comes to an end with Ishikawa’s pin. In a little victory speech, Ishikawa praises Ibushi as a great opponent who inspired him to get stronger, and the two men bow to each other in a show of respect.
